Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is the MRT test?

The Mediator Release Test (MRT) measures how your white blood cells respond to 170+ foods and chemicals. It goes beyond antibody testing to capture the release of inflammatory mediators—the actual drivers of symptoms like fatigue, bloating, headaches, joint pain, and more.

It’s one of the few tests that shows the clinical effect of food and chemical sensitivities—not just theoretical reactions.

Is this the same as an allergy test?

No. MRT is not an allergy test. Food allergies are typically immediate reactions involving IgE antibodies. MRT identifies delayed, immune-mediated sensitivities that may cause symptoms hours—or even days—after exposure.

These reactions often fly under the radar in conventional testing but can contribute to persistent, chronic symptoms.

Will I have to cut out a bunch of foods?

Not at all. This isn’t about restriction—it’s about targeted clarity. You’ll receive a personalized plan that helps you focus on what actually matters, based on your unique results. Most clients find it refreshing to know exactly what supports their body—and what doesn’t.

I had a food sensitivity test done at a doctor’s office (or online) and it didn’t help. How is this different?

That’s a valid concern—and a common experience.

Many food sensitivity tests on the market measure only antibodies (usually IgG), which can produce misleading or inconsistent results. They may show a long list of reactive foods without clear correlation to symptoms—or may simply reflect what you eat often, not what’s actually triggering inflammation.

The Mediator Release Test (MRT) is different. It goes a step further by measuring the end result of immune activation—the release of inflammatory chemicals (mediators) from white blood cells. This is what actually causes symptoms like brain fog, joint pain, or GI issues.

Because it captures that full inflammatory response, MRT tends to be more clinically useful—especially when paired with a structured, guided protocol like what you’ll receive in this program.

If past testing left you more confused than helped, this is designed to bring clarity, not overwhelm.

How often do we meet?

Many clients find that meeting more consistently at the start—often weekly for the first few weeks—provides helpful momentum, with sessions later transitioning to weekly or biweekly based on your individual response and level of support needed.

Can I participate if I’m not currently working with Bethany?

At this time, Ingrained Rest & Renew is available exclusively to active clients who are engaged in an individualized care plan.

If you’re not an established client but are interested in this approach, you’re welcome to schedule an initial appointment to begin that process. From there, we’ll make sure you’re fully supported with the right testing, plan, and next steps for your needs.
